In this tutorial you will learn how to apply a daydream effect to a mundane image. You will need to use various photo filters and blur filters for this tutorial. I have used a free stock image which is available from:

Daydream effect

Step 1

Open an image in Photoshop.
Reset the palette by pressing the ‘D’ key.

Step 2

Select Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur and select a 1 pixel radius and click ok. You should get the following blurry image below:

Step 3

Select Filter > Distort > Diffuse glow and add the following settings:

  • Graininess = 1
  • Glow amount = 7
  • Clear amount = 18

Step 4

Duplicate the layer by pressing Ctrl + J then change the blend mode to screen.

You should now have a daydream effect.
