Quick tip 2 – Load selection in Photoshop

This is part two of the Photoshop quick tip series where you will learn how to load the selection of a layer. Loading the selection of a layer involves selecting the areas around the shape or text. Usually when you want to make a selection around a shape/text you need to use the selection tool, but you can also use the load selection feature.

There are two ways you can load the selection in Photoshop. Firstly, you can use the menu bar by choosing Select > Load Selection from the menu bar. Or you use the faster method which will be demonstrated below.

Open up the object/text you want to load the selection. I have used some text for this example.

From the Layers panel select the text icon and then hold down the Ctrl button and click on the text icon.

You will notice your text will now have a selection around it.
