Metal texture effect
In this tutorial you will learn how to create a metal texture effect. You will need to use various filters for this texture effect.
Metal texture effect
Step 1
Open a Photoshop document with 640 x 480 dimensions.
Choose a grey foreground colour then select the paint bucket fill the canvas with your colour. I have used #787878 colour for my metal texture.
Step 2
Add some noise to the canvas by selecting Filter > Noise > Add Noise and add the following settings.
- Amount = 17%
- Distrubution = Uniform
- Monochromatic = Checked
You should get the following:

Step 3
Select Filter > Blur > Motion Blur and add the following settings.
- Angle = 57
- Distance = 15 pixels

You should now have a metal texture effect. If you don’t like the brightness of your texture you can adjust it by selecting Image > Adjustment > Hue/Saturation and adjust the lightness slider.
